My Horse is Limping
August 30th, 2009 adminCould be many things. My horse was limping bad this week. First thing is to check for a broken boke. I didnt see any. I checked the bottom of his hoof to see if anything was wrong with the frog or impedded in the hook. I have heard of things in the hoof including nails. he would let me touch but with a watchful eye. he was letting me know my boundries. it hurt him! Feel for heel. injuries with horses can cause heat allowing you to know where it is hurting. I felt no heat so i hoped he had gotten kicked. he is in a herd fo 10 or so. i gave him butte to help with the pain. you can give butte in one knotch increments twice a day or two notches one a day. next day he was still bad but a little better. next day a little better until in about four days he seemed normal. i’m letting hiom rest a couple of more days till i ride him. i’ll ride him a short time in the coral a time or two and then wander farther and farther so i dont push him to fast.
