Hollow Creek Farm
Hollow Creek is a full service facility offering the very best in equine care. Conveniently located to Raleigh, Durham and RTP, our goal is to promote good horsemanship and have a relaxed, working relationship with our clients.
Our 20 stall barn features 12 x12 stalls - all with thick rubber mats and bedded daily with fresh shavings - an automatic fly spray system, ceiling fans, tack room with individual built-in tack lockers, hot/cold wash racks and 12' concrete aisles. Individual box fans are provided in the summer months and in the winter months, we will be happy to blanket/unblanket your horse for you at no charge.
The pastures at Hollow Creek are all 3-board fenced. Other amenities include a 60' round pen, 100' x 200' riding ring and access to miles of trails. All horses are turned out in hand on a daily basis. All new arrivals will be given a few days to "adjust" in a private turn out and gradually introduced to their designated group. Mares are pastured with mares and geldings are pastured with geldings. Private turnouts are occasionally available upon request at additional fee and are mandatory for all broodmares in their last trimester.
Feeding is twice daily with Triple Crown Complete and timothy/alfalfa hay. The amount of feed will be determined by the condition and routine of each individual horse. If your horse requires a specialized diet due to a medical condition, we will be happy to accommodate you. We offer rice bran pellets, black oil sunflower seeds and beet pulp that can, for a minimal cost, be added to your horse's diet. Any additional supplements can be given - please inquire.
Mandatory routine vaccinations are scheduled by Hollow Creek on a regular basis for all horses boarding here. All horses will be dewormed by Hollow Creek Farm on a 60 day rotational schedule. New horses coming to Hollow Creek must have received EEE/WEE, Rhino/Flu vaccinations and Coggins testing within 6 months of arrival plus rabies and tetanus vaccines within 12 months. PHF is required for all horses from northern states, including Virginia. Strangles and West Nile vaccinations are not mandatory at this time. All vaccines must have been administered by a licensed veterinarian and a copy of these vaccinations and copy of the Coggins must accompany the horse or be sent ahead of time.
Professional farrier services are available on a weekly basis by Matt Kelly for your convenience. If you have a working relationship with another farrier, you are more than welcome to use them but you will have to schedule these visits, be here to retrieve and hold your horse and make payment.
Top quality veterinary care is available at all times by Flat River Veterinary Hospital and 3H Veterinary Practice. We are also located only 13 miles from North Carolina State University Veterinary Hospital and the state of the art facility they maintain.
Additional services offered by Hollow Creek Farm include showing, grooming, clipping, show prep and administration of medication. We will be happy to provide these services for "one time only" or on a scheduled basis. Please feel free to contact us for a complete list of services and price list!
At Hollow Creek Farm, we strive to take a lot of the "work" aspect out of owning a horse leaving our boarders with lots more time to enjoy their animals, ride and "socialize" with other boarders!! Good horsemanship and good companionship should go hand in hand!
At the present time, the boarding rate is $450 per month. Training, training board and lesson rates are all in our full price list. We will be happy to provide you with a copy of the price list and contract when you visit the facility. A very limited number of strictly "pasture board" horses will be considered. Pasture board is $325 per month and includes hay/grain twice daily and, if available, a private tack locker. Parking for horse trailers is available at no charge. We also give a "Student Discount" to clients attending NCSU, UNC, Duke or any local university.
Hollow Creek Farm is located 2 1/2 miles from the 540/Leesville Road intersection, 4 miles from the Leesville Road/Hwy 70 intersection, 5 miles from Hwy 98/Creedmoor Road intersection and minutes from RDU Airport. We are less than 1 mile from the northern Wake County line.
We do offer both in house training and lessons for our clients. Lessons are scheduled at the convenience of the client and are private lessons only. We do not offer the "summer camp/group lesson" type programs for children. All of our boarders are extremely friendly, rather "laid back" and have an extreme interest in the well being of the horse. Weather permitting, we try hard to organize a "group trail ride" at least twice a month - more often depending on everyone's schedule!
If we can provide you with further information, please do not hesitate to contact us! If you would like to set up a time to come out to tour the facility, just give us a call between 8:00AM and 8:00PM any day of the week. We'd love to have you come for a visit, meet us and discuss all the details with you. Coffee pot is always on! References are always available and gladly given!
